PROCEDURE: into a food processor drop a small carrot , about 6 or 8 ounces and grind, spred from 3 to 5 grams of Canthaxanthin or your preferred colorant over the crushed carrot and give it a couple of pulsations, add the dry egg food, one cup, one hard boiled egg and one teaspoon of sunflower seed oil process until the egg and shell are coarsely grounded, add the optional ingredients; vitamins extra seeds etc. and give it various pulsations to combine, the mixture shoul turn to a deep red and be of a slightly moist but loose consistency. Store in one quart freezer bags and freeze. When needed put in microwave for one minute to defrost. |

The mixture should be slightly moist but loose. Store in one quart freezer bags and freeze. When needed put in microwave for one minute to defrost. |

If we want to be successful in breeding and on the show bench, we need to pay particular attention during the breeding season and the molt, it is very important to raise the protein levels. Commercial dry nesting products can be improved and customized by adding some optional ingredients. One hard boiled egg can supply the extra protein and moisture needed to make the nesting food more appetizing, if you need more protein content you can always add an extra yolk. |
