During copulation the canary deposits his seminal fluid into the cloacae of the female, the sperms swim through the oviduct towards the infundibulum where they are stored  in glands or tubules  ready to meet the mature ovule and fertilize it as it enters and passes through the oviduct.

Genetics is the science that studies biological  inheritance. The Chromosomes carry the genetic information from each parent, they are found within the nucleus of the living cells, The chromosomes are divided into segments called genes.

There are two types of cells; somatic cells which control an individual’s growth and development and germinal cells which control sexual reproduction. The joining together of a male sex cell (spermatozoa) and a female’s sex cell (ovule) initiates a process of embryogenesis by various processes of cellular division.

Fertilization is the union of two sexual cells (gametes or germinal cells), the sperm enters the ovule which produces the zygote (fertilized ovule) that creates a new and unique individual. This union unchains a process of cellular division called meiosis which amalgamates and replicates the genetic substance.
